From the capital city of Sweden, Stockholm, hails the metal band Spazmosity, a band who have been active since 1994 although it took until 1997 for them to record their first demo. There were probably a few reasons for this since they started out under the moniker Made Of Iron and played Iron Maiden covers. There were also many line-up changes taking place in the early days of the band. Since then they have become more aggressive and extreme and their new demo "Storm Metal" possesses many similarities to other Swedish bands like Dissection and Naglfar. Already after hearing the nice laid-back acoustic intro of "The Curse Of Blood" I came to think of the greatness of the, hopefully successfully, resurrected, Dissection. Spazmosity have grown to become a very tight band where every instrumentalist is putting down his parts in perfect harmony. Perhaps they could have put some more thinking into the song writing but altogether "Storm Metal" is a highly impressive demo from a band that should please fans of Dissection, Naglfar, Setherial and fast and melodic black / death metal in general. It comes with a professional production as well, courtesy of Watain bass player and In Aeternum drummer Tore Stjerna and his Necromorbus Studio. Spazmosity have already played live with established acts such as Vinterland, Amon Amarth, Lobotomy and A Canorous Quintet and I am sure there is more in line for them in the future. Melody, aggression and extremity seem to come hand in hand for many Swedish bands and this is also what I like about Spazmosity. Not really unique in any way but well done. I for one want to hear more from them.
